This Snug Little Airbnb in Donegal Comes With A Gorgeous Private Beach

This Snug Little Airbnb in Donegal Comes With A Gorgeous Private Beach

Yes, there’s an Airbnb in Donegal with a private beach.

Now, it doesn’t own the beach, but it offers private access to a beach that you’ll likely have to yourself (see our guide to Airbnbs by the sea in Ireland for more places like this!).

This gorgeous little cottage is cosy on the inside, for those wet and wild days in Donegal and a stone’s throw from the water for when you fancy a paddle.

Below, you discover everything you need to know if you fancy kicking back in what is one of the most unique Airbnbs in Donegal.

You’ll find this Airbnb with a beach in Donegal, a short spin from Dooey in Lettermacaward (West Donegal – between Dungloe and Glenties).

Disclaimer: if you book an Airbnb through one of the links below we’ll make a tiny commission that helps us keep this site going. You won’t pay extra, but we really do appreciate it.

Now, there’s actually two very similar Airbnbs here (both right by the sea) that you can rent from hosts Greg and Lucas:

  • Seal Cottage
  • The 5-Star Cottage

Located in Lettermacaward, a stone’s-throw from many of the best things to do in Donegal, this is a fine, unique base for your Donegal Road Trip.

The cottage sleeps 4 (1 double bed in one room and 2 single beds in another) and is perfect for those of you in search of self-catering cottages in Donegal.

The home overlooks a sandy beach and the front door is, quite-literally, feet from the water.

Is it actually a private beach?

So, my understanding (I may be wrong) is that no beach in Ireland is privately owned. However, some beaches in Ireland can only be accessed via private land.

As is the case with this Airbnb (again, this is my understanding). In the Airbnb listing it’s described as: ‘Detached luxury, spacious Donegal stone cottage overlooking ‘our’ sandy beach (i.e. a beach accessed only via our land).’

This is my long-winded way of saying that you can be pretty confident that you’ll have this glorious stretch of coastline all to yourself.

How much a night will set you back

To check the price, I popped in 2 nights in August, 2021 for 4 people sharing. It works out at (prices accurate at time of writing):

  • Total: €865
  • Per person: €216.25
