The first section of our guide is packed with what we think are the best Indian restaurants in Dublin.

These are places that one of the Irish Road Trip team have munched away in at some point over the years and loved.

1. Pickle (Camden St.)

Pickle Restaurant in dublin

Located on Camden Street, Pickle is, in our opinion, the best Indian restaurant in Dublin City hands down. This place really is something special.

Executive Chef Sunil Ghai is behind the magic at Pickle. Over the years he’s racked up countless awards for his talents, and this expertise shines bright on everything plated up at Pickle.

If you’re looking to sample Pickle at its finest, try the tasting menu (5 courses starting at €60 per person). It can be created unique to you and it packs a serious punch.

Pickle is widely regarded as the best Indian restaurant in Dublin by many for good reason. As a result, it gets busy, so make sure to book ahead.

2. Ananda (Dundrum)

ANANDA restaurant dublin

Dundrum’s Ananda has been creating stunning dishes since it opened back in 2008 and it’s one of a number of swanky Indian restaurants in Dublin where there’s an emphasis on fine dining.

Ananda’s stylish décor with water-lily chandeliers and vibrant colours on the walls provides a perfect setting for a family gathering or a dinner date.

Food wise, you can opt for the A La Carte menu or a tasting menu (from €80 p/p) that changes by season. If you’re looking for the best Indian restaurants in Dublin to mark a special occasion, Ananda’s got you covered!

3. Taza (Beaumont)

Taza restaurant in dublin

If you are a fan of both Afghan and Indian cuisine, a visit to Taza is worth considering. Chef Arshad is in charge of the cooking and describes the cuisine at Taza as “old classics and some modern twists”.

Upon ordering, you will be served with delicious Poppadoms and dips. For main dishes, I recommend lamb biryani with Peshawari naan or chicken tikka masala with vegetable rice.

Arrive with an empty stomach, as the portions at this popular eatery are generous. There’s an excellent early bird menu on offer here for €26 and it runs Monday to Thursday, 16:00 to 19:00.

4. Delhi Rasoi (Dun Laoghaire)

Delhi Rasoi Indian Restaurant in dublin

Now, although there’s a Delhi Rasoi in Sandyford and Dun Laoighre, it’s the Dun Laoighre brand that we’ve been recommended by many over the years.

This is a small and bright restaurant that’s perfect for a meal with friends. Food wise, the kerla special duck curry (duck breast meat cooked with mustard seeds, curry leaves, onion and finished with coconut milk) is lip-smackingly good.

The CHICKEN SHASHLIK (Chicken marinated with yoghurt, mustard oil, cumin and variety of other Indian spices. Cooked in clay oven with onion) will also tantalise your tastebuds.

Owned by husband and wife duo Santosh and Milie, 3 Leaves in Blackrock offers a seasonal menu with plenty of Indian street food delicacies and a variety of regional curries.

Their sukha adraki chicken kebab is amazing and the murg mumtaz (marinated chicken thighs in a creamy yogurt sauce) is also one of the must-order dishes from the menu.

The menu at 3 Leaves changes regularly and there’s also a popular tasting platter during the week, where you can experience the best of Chef Santosh’s creations.

JAIPUR

Now that we have what we think are the best Indian restaurants in Dublin out of the way, it’s time to see what else the capital has to offer.

If you’re still not sold on any of the previous choices, the section below is packed with some more highly-reviewed places to try Indian food in Dublin.

1. Monsoon (Stillorgan)

No guide to the best Indian restaurants in Dublin would be complete without mentioning the mighty Monsoon in Stillorgan.

Monsoon started its life in Dublin way back in 1994 and they’ve been delighting locals with the finest authentic Indian cuisine ever since.

If you are craving some lamb, go for the signature Kashmiri Rogan Josh. If you fancy a bit of seafood, give the king prawn biryani a crack.

If you’re looking for a solid Indian takeaway in Dublin, the reviews for Monsoon’s delivery and collection service are both top-notch.

2. Ruchii, the Taste (Blackrock)

Ruchii restaurant dublin

We’re off to Blackrock to Ruchii, the Taste, next! Now, interestingly enough, Head Chef and owner Sateesh Sayana once cooked for the Prime Minister of India (in 2016).

So, you can be reasonably confident that a visit to Ruchii will make your belly happy! Although the menu here contains all of the classics, Sayana’s aubergine with buffalo mozzarella dressed in mustard is to die for.

If you’re looking for a night out, there’s a solid cocktail menu here that should help cool down your tastebuds if you overindulge on the spiciness!

3. Kinara (Clontarf)

Opened in 2001, Kinara is a great place to enjoy some hearty Pakistani cuisine. They even have a cocktail bar on their roof and offer interesting concoctions, like cardamom gin with chili.

As for the food, it’s absolutely delicious. I loved their tandoori monkfish, as well as the mouthwatering makhanwala murgh.

Thanks to its tastefully decorated private room, it’s also an excellent restaurant for business events and family gatherings.

4. JAIPUR (Dalkey)

JAIPUR

JAIPUR is a bit of an institution in Dalkey and its been keeping the bellies of locals and tourists alike happy for over 20 years now.

Here you’ll discover fresh, seasonal dishes that combine the very best of Irish produce, Indian flavours and modern gastronomic techniques.

The menu here is smaller than you’ll find in some of the Indian restaurants in Dublin, and that’s not a bad thing – you’ll often find a more concise menu trumps a big one as chefs can focus all of their efforts on perfecting a handful of dishes.

This is regarded as one of the best Indian restaurants in Dublin by many for good reason. Make sure to book in advance.

5. Kajjal (Malahide)

Kajjal

Located in the picturesque village of Malahide, Kajjal is an award-winning restaurant that specializes in Pakistani and Eastern cuisine.

Expect to come across a mix of regional cooking with tasty starters like tandoori lobster tail, chilli scallops, and Behari kebab.

For the mains, go for the signature dishes, like beef korma, lamb garam masala, or champ do piazza (lamb chops with onions tomato masala).

Kajjal is also big on seafood with delicacies such as seared jumbo prawns with sautéed onions and pepper and pan-seared lobster tails with a mix of peppers, spring onions, coriander, ginger and tomatoes.

6. Shakira Indian Cuisine (Dun Laoghaire)

Shakira restaurant

Although you’ll find Shakira Indian Cuisine on both Lower Georges Street in Dun Laoghaire and on Tower Road in Clondalkin, it’s the former that we’ve heard great things about.

Food wise, you’ll find all of the good stuff here, from tender lamb tikka and delicious chicken pakoras to spicy tandoori specials and more.

There’s also decent meal deals, like the meal for 2 for €31.90, which includes Lasooni Tikka, Vegetable Samosa & Poppadum for Starter. Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Rogan Josh and Vegetable Balti for mains. Plus 2 Pilau Rice, Naan and 2 Drinks.

You can dine in but, going off the reviews online, this is one of the best Indian takeaways in Dublin.
