Whether you are craving fresh seafood, want to sample international cuisine, or enjoy a wide range of classic Irish dishes, there are plenty of amazing places to eat in Westport for you to choose from.

1. An Port Mór Restaurant

The first on my list is Westport’s award-winning An Port Mór Restaurant. The main chef, Frankie Mallon visited this beautiful coastal town about 14 years ago instantly fell in love with it.

He worked in many kitchens across Europe and has cooked together with many celebrity chefs. Nowadays, you can see him preparing mouth-watering dishes at his own joint, An Port Mór.

The creamy panna cotta is to die for, while the Clew Bay lobster is one of the most popular dishes on the menu. Meat lovers should try the dry-aged beef that is locally sourced from the hills of Westport.

As for the interior, the dining room has a Mediterranean charm and creates an ideal setting for a memorable dining experience in Westport. An Port Mór tops the list as the best restaurant in Westport according to Google reviews.

2. JJ O’Malleys

Everyone in Westport knows JJ O’Malleys. It is one of the best-known restaurants in the town and you will find it at the end of Bridge Street.

The restaurant’s extensive menu has nearly 100 dishes to choose from. Flame-grilled prime Irish steaks are a popular order, as well as the roast Irish Duck.

If you wish to try their fish and seafood delicacies, I recommend ordering tiger prawns and fresh local mussels. With a private room upstairs that can accommodate about 20 guests, JJ O’Malleys is also an excellent venue for all kinds of celebrations.

When you’re finished, JJ’s is a short ramble away from some of the best pubs in Westport, from Matt Molloy’s to Toby’s and much more.

3. Torrinos Restaurant

Want to enjoy some fine Italian cuisine while exploring Westport? Pay a visit to Torrinos Restaurant, a popular Westport restaurant with tourists and locals alike.

From seafood to pasta and pizza, regardless of what you decide to order from their authentic Italian menu will be delicious. The restaurant takes pride in using only top-quality ingredients that are sourced locally.

Of course, they import only the finest Italian produce and wine lovers will be pleased to hear that Torrinos offers an extensive list of Italian wines.

4. La Bella Vita

There is no shortage of amazing Italian restaurants in Westport and La Bella Vita is up there with the best of them. This bistro-style restaurant is all about authentic Italian produce and seasonal ingredients.

The meatball with pasta dish is simple and ridiculously tasty, as is the large bowls of fresh mussels. However, my favourite dish here is the rice balls stuffed with mozzarella.

Did I mention their bruschetta appetizer? It took me back to my time spent in Sicily. Keep in mind that the restaurant is only open for dinner and its recommended to call beforehand to get a table.

One of the newest additions to the dining scene here in Westport, Cian’s on Bridge Street a great place to enjoy seafood delicacies.

On their innovative menu, expect to find options like seafood chowder, blue bells goat cheese, scallops, and oysters. Meat lovers are advised to give the lamb cutlets a shot!

The interior, with its smart table cloths and walls decorated with artefacts and maritime paintings, looks spectacular. It’s definitely one of the best-decorated restaurants in Westport.

6. Olde Bridge Restaurant

Located on Bridge Street, Olde Bridge Restaurant is a place where hungry patrons go to enjoy a wide range of Thai and Indian flavours.

The Indian mix platter for two that includes chicken pakora, lamb meatballs, chicken tikka, and onion bhaji is a real crowd-pleaser, while the Thai Massaman curry is also worth ordering.

I forgot to mention their delicious prawn madras that is cooked to perfection.

7. The Gallery Cafe, Wine & Tapas Bar

Ireland’s first natural wine bar, Gallery Cafe, Wine & Tapas Bar specializes in organic wines and body-friendly cuisine.

You will find this lovely bar along Brewer Place in the heart of Westport. Aside from food from organic and small-scale producers, the venue has a huge vinyl record collection and serves amazing coffee.

They also have a film club, live music, and a variety of environmental evening talks. If you are looking for a unique place that actually cares about planet Earth, Gallery Cafe, Wine & Tapas Bar is a place you’ll want to visit while staying in Westport.

Located in the heart of the town, the West Bar & Restaurant is one of the best places to eat in Westport for a quick lunch or dinner in the city.

I like their version of seafood chowder, while the salmon and mussels are also great options for ordering.  Visitors looking for a hearty dish should go for the steak.

Sports fans will be pleased to hear that this dining establishment is an excellent place to watch football matches on the bar’s giant screens.

9. Sol Rio Restaurant

The last place in our guide to the best restaurants in Westport is the Sol Rio Restaurant. On their extensive menu, visitors will find everything from organic meat and fish to pizza and pasta.

My favourite thing to order here is the signature egg-custard pastries prepared by the one and only Jose Barosso, a Portuguese chef who crafts all of his dishes to perfection.

If you arrive and this place is full, you can always nip into their on-site bar area and wait things out with a drink or a coffee.
