1. Aran Islands Camping & Glamping

There is nothing more refreshing than waking up in the morning surrounded by natural beauty, even more so when you are on the unspoiled island of Inis Mor, situated just outside Galway Bay.

Aran Islands camping & glamping offers two types of accommodation; the beehive shaped Clochán Glamping Unit (sleeps up to four people) and the larger Tigín Glamping Unit (sleeps up to six people).

All units are fully heated, come with a mini-kitchen (there is also a shared kitchen for big meals), fridge, a sofa bed, a shower room and coffee/tea making facilities. Bedding is also provided so you don’t even need to bring your sleeping bag.

2. Podumna Village

Nestled in the heart of Portunma Town is the dreamy Pod Umna village, which is arguably one of the most unique places to go glamping in Galway.

Aside from being conveniently close to the town centre where there’s a castle, abbey and forest park to explore, the village also offers visitors the choice of staying in an Eco Pod (sleeps up to five people), cabin(sleeps up to six people) or even a hut (sleeps up to two people).

All accommodation is fully insulated, comes with a deck area and there is on-site facilities nearby such as a drying room, showers, toilets, meeting rooms and workshops. There’s also a well-equipped kitchen and dining area for self-catering.

3. Kitty’s Camping

OK you cool cats and kittens, this is a great low-cost campsite situated in the foothills of the Burren, south of Galway City.

The campsite offers fantastic views of the local area and is a short drive from the mighty Cliffs of Moher. If you are looking a spot to sit and hear campfire stories then this is ideal.

The showers and toilets run on rain water and everything is recycled or composted. Visitors can choose to stay in a red/green wagon (sleeps up to 4 adults), purple wagon (sleeps up to two adults),cabin (sleeps up to six people), or even a tent (two adults).

4. Clifden Eco Beach (some of the best glamping Galway has to offer!)

This multi-award winning ecological park is situated on Connemara’s Wild Atlantic Way and comes with an unspoiled private beach where you can find breathtaking panoramic seascape views, spectacular sunsets and crystal clear waters.

The eco-friendly campsite offers tent rental that sleeps up to 2-3 people, comes full-equipped with an airbed, pillows and camping chairs.

There is also a mobile home you can rent which has electric hook-up facilities, sleeps up to two adults and two children and comes with bedding and towels provided.

The campsite has on-site facilities such as showers, toilets, washing machine and a kitchen offering free tea/coffee.

5. The Cabin

If you fancy trying glamping in Galway but you want to opt for a slightly more solid roof above your head, this place should tickle your fancy.

The cosy cabin is located in Slieve Aughty Centre and while it is really of the beaten track, the 17 acres of surrounding farmland and forestry will surely make up for it.

You can also arrange to go horse riding if you let the owner know in advance!  This quirky cabin sleeps up to two adults with a double bedroom in the loft (accessed by a timber ladder).

There is also a toilet/shower wet room inside and for self-catering needs there is a fully-equipped shared kitchen.

6. The Fields of Athenry

This eco pod is tucked away in the quiet country side and it has been specifically designed to minimise waste and conserve energy.

The lovely location will place you in the heart of the countryside and it’s only 1 mile from the historic Medieval town of Athenry, famous for playing an important role in the 1916 rising.

The pod sleeps up to 3 adults, so it’s perfect if you are on a road trip and need a wee kip. The interior is cosy with a bathroom, shower and toiletries. Free tea and coffee is also supplied and there is a shared kitchen for self-catering.

7. The Wagon

These wonderful wagons are beautifully handcrafted and are close to a handful of woodland trails to explore on a beautiful sunny afternoon.

The interior is small and cosy with plenty of room for two adults. A traditional cast iron tripod is beside the wagons where you can cook on an open fire though there is also a shared kitchen if the weather is playing up.

Guests are free to enjoy the library room, art room and fairy garden on the premises. For an additional charge, there is also the option to go horse riding, mountain biking, take a dip in the hot tub or enjoy a healthy meal in the organic restaurant.

8. The Wild Atlantic Bus

Next up is arguably some of the most unique glamping Galway has to offer. The Wild Atlantic bus is a 28 year old double decker bus transformed into a unique and quirky accommodation.

It’s located just on the outskirts of Oughterard which is known as a gateway to Connemara, putting you  right on the Wild Atlantic Way.

The bus sleeps up to 6 adults with 3 double beds, comes with a wood burning stove, a fully-equipped kitchen for your self-catering needs and a wet room.

1. Burren Glamping

Burren Glamping gives lucky guests the chance to sleep in a converted vintage horse truck in the middle of a traditional farm, located just outside of lovely Kilfernora.

The horse truck is recently refurbished, sleeps up to 6 people and is well insulated. Breakfast is made from organic produce directly from the farm.

There is also a few farm animals around to keep you entertained and the farmer is more than happy to take you on a tour of the farm or even the surrounding Burren area, known for its heritage, geology and archaeology.

It’s a great wee spot if you happen to have animal-fanatic kids or you are an animal-fanatic yourself.

2. Crann Og Eco Farm

For something more off-grid and offering complete privacy there is this eco farm located beneath an old Oak tree close to an ancient Drummin woods.

The cabin is well insulated and can sleep up to  2 adults and 3 kids. There is also a convenient kitchenette and dry composting toilet inside.

Crann Og is a no-technology zone so there is no TV or Wifi though there is a charging station for all electronic devices.

One truly unique aspect of the farm is that there are guided Nature Therapy walks, medicine walks and forest bathing classes on offer. Sometimes there is also yoga classes to join in.

3. Glamping Galway

Glamping Galway is situated on a former farmyard complex and within the 11 acre site is a host of historic buildings refurbished into charmingly rustic accommodation such as 18th century barns and a 16th century tower house.

If you want to make friends or need space, there is a 19th century church refurbished into a cool social area for guests.

Close to the courtyard is shower and toilet facilities and there is a fully equipped communal kitchen for when you need to make a big family meal though there is plenty of space for picnics and BBQ facilities on a sunny day.
