Welcome to Portsalon Luxury Camping: Camp Fires, Mountain Views & A Fancy Tent

Ah, Portsalon Luxury Camping in Donegal.

A place that, since including it in our guide to the best places to go glamping in Ireland, we’ve had many a mail and DM about.

This place is the business – it’s unique, the accommodation is cosy and well put together and the views rival many of the best hotels in Donegal.

In the guide below, you’ll find everything you need to know about Portsalon Luxury Camping, from location and things to do to prices and much more.

If you read our guide to the best things to do in Donegal that we published recently, you’ll probably recognise this gem of a place.

Portsalon Luxury Camping is situated on a hill in the north of Donegal – an area surrounded by an abundance of breath-taking scenery.

Now, if you visit Portsalon glamping, you won’t be staying in a tent. You’ll be kipping in a yoke that’s known as a ‘Yurt’.

If, like me, you’re wondering what a ‘Yurt’ actually is, a ‘Yurt’ is a big, round, timber-framed canvas covered tent.

By all accounts, these lads are sturdier, warmer, cosier and much more spacious than a traditional tent.

The biggest draw Portsalon Luxury Clamping has, for me, is that it offers the perfect mix of nature and comfort.

Views… and toasted marshmallows at Portsalon glamping

You can kick back in bed with the stove blazing away and on the warmer evenings, or if you fancy sitting out with a few layers, there’s a decking area with outdoor seating and a fire pit.

Imagine toasting a few marshmallows while kicking back and gazing out at the view above! A little slice of magic!

You can soak up the view out over Lough Swilly, Mulroy Bay, Knockalla mountain and the Inishowen Peninsula as you listen to the crackle of the fire.

‘We are open to visitors from April to October and rent out five yurts with luxurious king sized beds, lovely cosy interiors and fabulous wood-burning stoves.

Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, there is no shortage of things to see and places to explore or you can choose to just kick back and relax on our easy-going site.’

How much a night will set you back

I whacked in 2 nights in September to see what the suss with the prices was. For a Wednesday to a Friday you’ll pay:

  • Total for 2 people: €196
