Today, we’re off to Tipperary to check out a gorgeous old thatch cottage that’s insanely good value.
How mighty does this place look?!
There’s something wonderfully iconic about a thatched Irish cottage.
It’s probably due to the fact that I associate them with happy memories of getting lost in rural Ireland, but it could just as easily be the sheer charm that they tend to emit by the bucket-load.
Who knows.
This little beauty is like something that’s been plucked straight from a time that Ireland has long forgotten.
The freshly painted white walls and the yellowy-orange window trims are slick, but the thatch is the icing on the cake.
I may have fallen in love with this place…
This cottage still boasts all of its original features, each of which have been lovingly restored and preserved by owners Grace and Tom.

‘This is the perfect place for a romantic escape! It is a very private cottage with lots of space and comfort for 2 people.
Guests can enjoy complimentary scones on arrival and a bottle of wine to share by the fire. It boasts some of the oldest thatch features found in Ireland with its original exposed roof inside. There is a large stove in the open fireplace, a shower and bath, wardrobe space and comfortable bed with excellent quality bed linen.’
I can easily picture myself kicking back here with a bottle of beer on a wet and windy Saturday night, as a storm blasts away outside.

Thanks Keith for the wonderful review of our thatched cottage . We are starting today on rethaching the roof which will take 5 weeks . I hope to have some cool pictures of it as it happens up on the facebook page when the pictures are ready. Tom

That's amazing. Happy days. I was driving through Adare in Limerick recently and was wondering if the roofs are ever rethached.
