I came across Glenarm Castle Glamping when we were writing a guide to the best places to go glamping in Ireland.
Up until then, I’d never heard of it.
Which is strange, as I spend a fair whack of time each week having a nosey online in search of unusual places to stay.
If you’re visiting County Antrim and looking for somewhere funky to base yourself from, then these pods near Belfast should tickle your fancy.
Glenarm Castle Glamping
You’ll find some very swanky glamping pods at Glenarm Castle estate in County Antrim, within the grounds of a family-owned 17th-century castle.
The estate is a handy 50-minute drive from Belfast City and a stone’s throw from many of the Causeway Coastal Routes top attractions, like the Gobbins and the Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge.
The glamping facilities at Glenarm Castle are finely decked out pods, some of which offer ocean views while others are located in a wooded area.
What to expect
I’m always a little wary when I see hotels advertising glamping pods.
While some put the effort in and deck them out to a decent standard, others offer the bare minimum and often whack a cost-per-night on them that’s higher than their rooms.
Glenarm falls into the former bucket, thankfully.
The pods here are to a high standard, can sleep up to 4 people (double bed and a bunk bed) and are equipped with:
- Shower Room
- Electricity & plug points
- Coffee Dock
- Tea & coffee making
- Linen & towels provided
- Pods sleep 2 or 4 people
- Double bed & bunks
- Wardrobe & storage space
- Heated Pod
- Heated Towel Rail
