2 Ways To Try The Delicious Nutty Irishman Drink (Recipe)

The Nutty Irishman is one of the more popular Irish cocktails, and it can be served in several different ways.

You’ll see mini versions served as shots, chocolaty concoctions served in martini glasses and desert-like cocktails served up in tall glasses.

In the guide below, I’m going to give you two versions of the Nutty Irishman recipe – both are simple, quick to make and absolutely delicious!

Before you look at our Nutty Irishman recipe, it’s worth taking 20 seconds to read the below points, first, as it’ll make the process a bit easier for you:

1. You can serve it however you like

If you look at the photo above, you’ll see two very different ways of serving up a Nutty Irishman. You can tailor this however you like (I leave the cream off, for example), once you follow the main ingredients.

2. Don’t substitute the Baileys

You’ll often see a Nutty Irishman recipe online that recommends using ‘Any aul cream liqueur’… don’t! If you can, try and get Baileys (your tastebuds will thank you – promise!).

3. Have fun with the garnishing

One of the beauties of the Nutty Irishman cocktail is how versatile it is. You can pop freshly whipped cream on top, you can line the inside of the glass with some chocolate, you can add nutmeg at Christmas, you… you get the picture!

There’s only three short steps needed to make this delight of a drink. Pay particular attention to point two:

Step 1: Chill your glass

This step is optional, but it’s a quick and easy way of keeping your drink cool for longer. Half fill your glass with ice, place your palm over the top and swirl the ice around the glass.

You’ll feel the glass get nice and cool after around 15 – 20 seconds. Drain the water from the glass and pour the ice into a cocktail shaker (or a protein shaker if you have one).

Step 2: Assemble and shake, shake, shake

Take your cocktail shaker or your protein shaker and add a handful of ice. On top, pour your Baileys and Frangelica. Shake until you feel the ice start to break up.

Strain the mixture into your freshly chilled glass. Now, if you’re doing our first Nutty Irishman recipe, you can simply stop here. If you’re trying version 2, continue reading.

Step 3: Cream and garnish

We want to add some nice, thick cream to the top of our Nutty Irishman cocktail. The best way to achieve this is to take your fresh cream and begin to lightly whip it in a bowl.

You want the cream to be nice and thick, so stop well before it starts to get fluffy. Gently pour the cream on top of your Nutty Irishman drink. You can also sprinkle some chopped hazelnuts on top as garnish.
