If you’re debating a staycation in Ireland over the coming months when things get back to normal, this place should tickle your fancy.
Not only does it offer fine views (one of which can be enjoyed from the bath!) out over the surrounding countryside, it’s also based in the mighty village of Doolin in County Clare.
If you’re not familiar with Doolin, it’s a buzzy little village that’s a stone’s throw from some of the best natural attractions in the county.
Below, you’ll get a nosey at Elfin Cottage, some very swanky accommodation that’s owned by the folks at Doolin Village Lodges.
Doolin Village Lodges
Elfin Cottage is one of several cottages and lodges that Doolin Village Lodges have on offer, but it’s easily the pick of the bunch.
The building that now houses the very fancy Elfin started off its life as a farmers cottage many moons ago.
Since then, it’s appearance has changed quite a bit. The owners have carefully restored the cottage with the expertise of local craftsmen. They’ve also added in some very luxurious decor.
A grand aul view
Good God imagine flaking out in one of those squishy chairs in the hour before sunset with a beer, watching the sun drop over the surrounding countryside!
This living area is arguably the best feature of the cottage. It’s nice and spacious, there’s heaps of natural light pouring in and the view would knock you on your arse.
The whole set-up is made all the mightier by the gorgeous wood-burning stove.
Serious gaff envy…
The cottage has two large double bedrooms (which makes it perfect for two couples or four well-acquainted friends) and a well-decked out kitchen.
The swanky copper tub that you saw above is based in the master bedroom, so you’ll have to flip (or fight…) to decide who gets to kip there.
How much a night here will set you back
I’ve stuck in 4 nights in late May/early June to suss out the price (there’s a 4-night minimum stay for that time of the year). The price works out at:
- Total cost: €1,551
- Total per person: €387.75
- Per person per night: €96.94
- Book a night or check prices here
- If you use the link above we’ll make a tiny commission that goes towards the running of this website and you won’t pay anything extra (cheers if you do – it’s appreciated!)
Things to do nearby

There’s a crazy amount to do near each of the Doolin Village Lodges if you do happen to spend a couple of nights in one.
From the Cliffs of Moher and the Doolin Cave to the Aran Islands and the Burren, you’ll be kept entertained from morning to night.
There are also plenty of lively little pubs to nip into for a post-adventure pint. Have a look at our guide on things to do in Doolin to see more.
