Our favourite Dunmore East hotels (there’s only 2)
Yep, there’s a whopping 2 Dunmore East hotels on offer – luckily they’re good ones (the Haven Hotel is arguably one of the best hotels in Waterford!).
Note: if you book a hotel through one of the links below we may make a tiny commission that helps us keep this site going. You won’t pay extra, but we really do appreciate it.
1. The Haven Hotel
The Haven is one of the more popular hotels in Waterford. This is a proper family hotel owned and run by the Kelly family for more than 50 years.
Set in gorgeous surroundings in the centre of beautiful Dunmore East, they pride themselves on having “something for everyone.”
The hotel is full of character and charm, with gorgeous views out to the sea and lots of tables and benches to relax with a good book and a glass of wine.
The Haven is an excellent base for exploring Dunmore East and the surrounding areas, with Waterford being only 17km away. Great food, great location and great value, The Haven Hotel is worth a visit.
2. The Strand Inn Accommodation
Whether you’re travelling with your partner, family or The Girls, there’s something here for everyone.
Rooms with a balcony, rooms with panoramic views over the sea, glamping cabins, a wellness retreat, it’s all here.
The Strand Inn has a bit of a Cape Cod feel to it with its relaxed beachy vibe in lovely Dunmore East.
The terrace is perfectly positioned to marvel at the views across to Hook Head, and most of the 15 bedrooms have expansive ocean views.
Be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks and have breakfast outside, watching the world start its day.
Dunmore East accommodation with great reviews
Now that we have the Dunmore East hotels out of the way, it’s time to see what other accommodation this corner of Waterford has to offer.
Below, you’ll find a mix of B&Bs and self-catering accommodation in Dunmore East, with something that’ll hopefully suit most budgets.
1. Dunmore East Golf Lodges
Dunmore East Golf Lodges are located approx. 2.5km from Forenaught Beach, with the closest airport being Waterford Airport, which is 11km away.
The 3 bedroom lodges sit above the coastline of beautiful Dunmore East on the southeast coast.
The lodges are laid out in an open style holiday village that boasts expansive ocean views and the famous Hook lighthouse.
Each holiday lodge is equipped with an oven, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, microwave, fridge and freezer drawer and has open plan living and dining.
Restaurant, bar, free wifi and a children’s playground are all available in the holiday village.
2. Forest Haven Holiday Homes
Forest Haven Holiday Homes are close to all the amenities Dunmore East has to offer. The 3 bedroom self-catering homes can sleep 6 guests, and they’re all very well maintained.
Each house has an open plan kitchen, living and dining so you don’t miss out on the fun while you’re cooking.
The well-equipped kitchen has everything you’ll need for a self-catering holiday, and when the weather’s good, you can open the French doors onto a patio and eat outside.
The three bedrooms are upstairs, one double with an en-suite and 2 twins sharing a family bathroom.
3. Bayview Holiday Home
I’m a sucker for traditional-style homes, so this is my best choice. Picture it – a country-style Irish cottage with a lovely garden beside the beach. What’s not to love?
There is a mixture of cottages and apartments, and their site says pets are allowed in the houses but check this out before you book.
The cottage is open plan and combines the traditional with all the modern conveniences you’ll need for your self-catering holiday.
The 3 bedrooms are roomy, one double, one with an extra large double bed, and one with a double and single bed. It’s only a 5-minute walk to lovely Dunmore East and all its amenities.
4. Seacliff Holiday Homes
Just what it says on the tin, Seacliff Holiday Homes make the most of their fantastic location. There is a selection of views; out over the ocean, the leafy countryside, and the on-site golf course. Some of the houses have views of all.
The complex is exceptionally well maintained, and has a 3-star rating from the Irish Tourist Board. The houses have open plan lounge and dining, leading to a patio, plus a kitchen and a family bathroom on the ground floor.
Upstairs are the 3 bedrooms with the master having an en-suite. Some master bedrooms have a double bed, while others are twin rooms.
The gardens are equipped with garden furniture, and there’s lots of car parking. Dunmore East is just a short downhill walk away – don’t forget it’ll be uphill on the way back!
