I first came across Dromquinna Manor glamping when we published a guide to glamping in Kerry.
The pictures above and below quickly caught my eye. As did the price tag (more on this below).
The Hideaway at Dromquinna Manor is the name given to the very fancy waterside tents located on the grounds of the hotel.
In the guide below, you’ll find out everything you need to know if you fancy giving glamping at Dromquinna Manor a crack.
Some quick need-to-knows about Dromquinna Manor glamping
Although a visit to Dromquinna Manor glamping is fairly straightforward, there’s a few, quick need-to-knows that’ll get you up-to-speed on what it’s all about.
1. Location
You’ll find the most luxurious place to go glamping in Ireland in Dromquinna Manor in County Kerry, on the Sneem Road in Kenmare.
2. A very swanky location
Dating back to the 1890s, Dromquinna Manor is a stunning waterside estate that’s set on 40 acres of gorgeous parkland, a stones throw from plenty of things to see and do.
3. The Hideaway
The Hideaway tents at Dromquinna Manor can be found on the grounds of the hotel and it’s like glamping on steroids, as you can see above.
4. A hefty price per night
At the time of typing, a stay at Dromquinna Manor glamping will set you back €350 per night (accurate at the time of typing), and there’s a 2-night minimum stay (more on this below).
5. Other glamping tents
You can stay in some other Dromquinna glamping tents that, from what I can tell (I may be wrong), are cheaper to spend the night in. You can see them here.
The Dromquinna glamping tents: What to expect
The Hideaway Tent is located on the grounds of the hotel and it’s like glamping on steroids.
Accessed through a private gated garden, the tent is set within a secluded woods with stunning views out over the cliff and water.
Views galore
So, I was sold when I read, ‘Breakfast to your door, mini bar and total seclusion are all that is needed to escape from everything’.
The Hideway is perched on a cliff overlooking Kenmare Bay, treating visitors to the view in the image above.
You’ll also be able to soak it all in from your bed. How the folks at Dromquinna Manor describe it:
‘Luxury is a word often abused but a real personal luxury is a rare find. The Hideaway fulfils a total sense of escape from the real world resulting in a personal luxury like no other. It is nature and natural in sound and vision that connects with your inner soul and switches you off, totally.
A private gate leads to your sanctuary that is perched on a cliff overlooking Kenmare Bay. You are greeted with a private garden and path that leads to your tented home. Decorated with an eclectic mix of antiques and native rustic furniture the style is laid back natural elegance. The only intrusion is the slow fly-by by your only neighbouring resident, the Heron.’
A well equipped tent
The Hideaway at Dromquinna Manor comes equipped with:
- A king Size Wilderness Bed bed made up with crisp, white bed linen.
- Plush Towels
- Private bathroom (eh, I’d hope so!)
- Private veranda with armchairs and breakfast table
- Library of books, board games, playing cards and magazines
- Mineral Water
- Wine glasses and opener
- Towels and bathrobes
- Voya Toiletries
Dromquinna Manor glamping: How much a night will set you back
The Hideaway isn’t cheap. And it’s made all the more expensive by the fact that there’s a 2-night minimum stay.
One night here will cost you an eye-watering €350… while additional nights comes in a bit cheaper at €250. That’d rival some of the 5 star hotels in Kerry.
That’s pretty damn steep. Have you stayed here? Or do you know someone that has? Let me know in the comments below!
