You’ll find one of the best views in Donegal from the Knockamany Bens Viewpoint.
It’s located on the Inishowen Peninsula and you come to it right after Five Finger Strand.
The beauty of this viewpoint is that you drive right up to it, so it’s perfect for those with limited mobility.
What to know about Knockamany Bens
Although a visit to Knockamany Bens is fairly straightforward, there are a few need-to-knows that’ll make your visit that bit more enjoyable.
1. Location
The viewpoint is found at the townland of Knockamany on Inishowen. You’ll find the parking area here on Google Maps.
2. A careful approach is needed
As you’ll see on the map above, the road that leads up to the Knockamany Bens Viewpoint is reasonably narrow. As this is part of the Inishowen 100 route, you get cyclists, walkers and cars along this road, so please use caution.
3. What you can see from the viewpoint
When you gaze out from Knockamany Bens, the first thing you’ll see is the golden sands of Five Finger Strand beneath you. If you raise your eyes, you’ll see mountains off in the distance – beneath them is Ballyliffin (you’ll be able to see the bow-shaped Pollan Bay on the coast to the right).
