The first section of our guide to the best restaurants in Strandhill tackles our favourite places to eat in Strandhill.

These are pubs and restaurants that we (one of the Irish Road Trip team) have munched away in at some point over the years. Dive on in!

1. The Strand Bar

The Strand Bar is located minutes away from Strandhill Beach and it has been servicing locals and visitors alike since 1913.

This traditional pub is packed full of personality and character, with a menu wedged with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Although arguably best known for its Guinness Beef Stew (perfect if you’ve just come in from a day spent surfing), this place also does a gorgeous seafood platter and some very tasty pizzas.

2. Stoked

Established back in April 2018, this quirky tapas restaurant has a menu inspired by dishes from all over the globe, with something for even the fussiest of eaters.

The seafood dishes from Stoked are incredible, although the disco wings will leave your tongue boogieing better than John Travolta. The dressed wards crabs are also lip-smackingly good!

If you’re in search of Strandhill restaurants that’ll tantalize your tastebuds from beginning to end, Stoked is a great shout!

3. The Dunes Bar

If a combo of burgers, beers and music sounds like it’d be up your street, then carve out some time to visit The Dunes Bar.

The Dunes reopened under new owners in 2017, and it’s been flying every since! It’s here, as you’ll see from the photo above, that you’ll find one of the best burgers in Sligo.

The buffalo fries and nachos are also the business, if you fancy a light bite, while the buttermilk marinated chicken burger and the buffalo chicken wings pack a punch!

4. The Venue Bar and Restaurant

This restaurant dates as far back as 1800 and it is the second oldest building in Strandhill, as it happens!

Inside, you’ll find a cosy open fire (in winter!) with vintage stoneware on shelves and beautiful wooden décor.

Diners can enjoy incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean while also indulging in delicious food. The Venue is famous for its Lissadell mussels and seafood chowder though you can always get a big juicy steak if you like!

5. Montee’s Restaurant

Operating from the clubhouse of Strandhill Golf Club is Montees! This place serves breakfast, brunch and evening meals from 10am to 8pm every day and it also has a street food style takeaway.

There are some amazing sea views from the restaurant, too, with everything from views of the Atlantic to people playing golf on offer.

If you’re in search of Strandhill restaurants for a hearty feed, you can’t go wrong with a visit to Montee’s!

6. Shell’s Cafe

So, although Strandhill is best-known for its surf, it’s also famous for this legendary café located right on the sea front.

While Shell’s is a great spot for a coffee and a sweet treat, it’s biggest draw is the hearty food, which is a go-to for locals and tourists alike.

There’s a brunch and lunch menu at Shell’s; the brunch menu boasts everything from Buddha Bowls and the brilliant Beach Walk Burrito to nut butter toast and much more.

The lunch menu is packed with everything from soup of the day and a lemon rosemary chicken burger to fish and chips and much more. Get in and make your belly happy.

7. Mammy Johnston’s

Mammy Johnston’s has been making ice-cream for around 100 years and the parlour has been in the Byrne family for three generations.

They are so serious about top-notch ice-cream that the owner, Neil Bryne, spent time at Cattabriga Gelato University in Italy to study ice-cream making.

There’s also savory and sweet crepes on offer here, too. This place is the perfect sweet treat retreat after a long day of adventures, just watch out for seagulls who love the stuff just as much as you do.
