2. The Central Hotel (one of our favourite hotels in Donegal Town)

If you’re in search of hotels in Donegal Town with a swimming pool, get yourself booked into the Central.

The Central Hotel is, as its name suggests, located quite literally very central in Donegal town. It offers beautiful views over the bay and is within walking distance to the main square and Donegal Castle.

It’s an incredibly affordable three-star hotel with a highly regarded reputation for its welcoming staff and elegant interior. 

You have a wide choice of rooms from singles up to family with some even offering sea views. It also boasts fantastic dining options such as Blazers Burger Bar and Chapman’s Restaurant, so you don’t have to worry about finding something to eat elsewhere.

3. The Gateway Lodge

The Gateway is the perfect overnight stop on the Wild Atlantic Way and just minutes’ walk from the centre of Donegal town.

It’s a very affordable, three-star accommodation that offers clean and modern rooms. The hotel is housed in a stone inn along a quiet residential street, within a couple of minutes of Donegal Castle.

O’Donnell’s is a lively little pub on the Diamond in Donegal’s town centre that also boasts accommodation. Its central location means you can easily be within walking distance of most of the town’s attractions.

Now, in a lot of guides to Donegal Town hotels, you’ll find the likes of Lough Eske listed as being right in the town – that isn’t the case. However, it is very close by.
