If you’re in search of the best hotels in Letterkenny, you’ve landed in the right place.
If you plan on basing yourself in this lively little town for a night or two (there’s heaps of things to do in Letterkenny!) you’ll need a decent place to stay.
Luckily, there’s plenty of hotels in Letterkenny to choose from, and we’ve compiled a guide to the best of the bunch below.
The best hotels in Letterkenny
The first section of our guide is packed with that we think are the best hotels in Letterkenny – these are places that one or more of the team have stayed.
Below, you’ll find everywhere from the Radisson Blu and the Station House to one of the more unique Letterkenny hotels that’s very swanky.
1. Station House Hotel
Last but by no means least in our Letterkenny hotels guide is the Station House – a boutique hotel with 81 modern guests rooms – located on Letterkenny’s Lower Main Street.
Room wise, there’s the usual singles and family rooms but there’s also accessible rooms, interconnecting rooms and an executive option, too.
In the evenings, you can retreat to on-site The Depot Bar & Restaurant or, if you fancy, you’re a short stroll from many of the best pubs in Letterkenny.
2. Clanree Hotel
First up is arguably one of the most unique hotels Letterkenny has to offer. The imposing Clanree Hotel is located on Derry Road just a short drive from the town centre.
Expect four star luxury in 120 comfy ensuite bedrooms with deep mattresses and cosy armchairs for chilling out in. The Clanree also boasts a swimming pool, a leisure centre, a kids pool, a sauna, jacuzzi, steamroom and an extensive fitness centre.
If you read our guide to the best restaurants in Letterkenny, you’ll be familiar with the Clanree’s award-winning Aileach Restaurant, which is the perfect place for a post-adventure feed.
3. Rockhill House Estate
Rockhill House Estate is often listed among the best hotels in Donegal, and for good reason. This elegant country manor is tucked away in a 100-acre estate that overlooks Letterkenny. The rooms here are stunning.
Big, bright and decorated with mahogany four poster beds and with an attention to detail that you’d see in a 5-star. There’s also plenty of dining options; the yellow gold Stewart Dining Room (for breakfast) and The Church for lunch.
There’s also 2 on-site bars. This is arguably one of the best Letterkenny hotels for those of you looking to stay in the area, but away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre.
4. Silver Tassie Hotel
Silver Tassie is a popular 4 star that’s been in the Blaney family for 2 generations. And when I say popular, I mean popular – it’s current review score on Google, at the time of typing, is 4.6/5 from 1,087 reviews!
The hotel is located a short spin from the town centre on Ramelton Road and it’s home to 36 rooms, a popular bar and restaurant and The Seascape Spa (it has his-and-her treatments, seaweed baths and more).
If you’re looking for Letterkenny hotels with their own spa, rave reviews online and a location that’s hard to beat, check this place out.
5. Radisson Blu Hotel
The Radisson Blu on Paddy Harte Lane is another of the more popular places to stay in Letterkenny. This 4 star hotel has 114 bright and the kind of no-fuss yet tastefully decorated bedrooms that you associate with the Radisson.
Food and drink wise, the hotel is home to The Mulberry (their AA Rosette-awarded restaurant) and The Poet’s Corner. There’s an extensive fitness area, a sauna and a steam room and it’s also one of the few hotels in Letterkenny with a pool.
This stylish hotel works hard to provide excellent service and is a great base for visiting many of the best things to see in Donegal.
6. McGettigan’s Hotel
McGettigan’s is one of the newest hotels Letterkenny has to offer, and you’ll find it located right on Main Street, a stone throw from some of Letterkenny’s finest restaurants.
It boasts state-of-the-art facilities and delectable food in the “Ard na cGeapairí Bistro and Carvery”. Air-conditioned rooms and suites are modern and newly refurbished.
The hotel also has a business centre, conference centre, room service, laundry and more. The hotel’s restaurant and bar, the Warehouse, has an industrial feel to it and a menu packed with towering burgers, steaks and salads. There’s an enticing cocktail menu, too.
7. Dillons Hotel
If you’re looking for places to stay in Letterkenny Town that are nice and central, Dillons’ is worth a look – you’ll find it in Letterkenny’s Cathedral Quarter. The bedrooms here, although reasonably plain, are bright, spacious and have everything you’ll need for a night away.
There’s also family rooms and accessible rooms, which is great to see (wide door frames for wheelchair access and safety rails in the bathroom).
The hotels restaurant (Dillons Bar and Grill) has a popular lunch and rill menu boasting everything from chicken and chorizo penne pasta to fresh breaded scampi.
8. Mount Errigal Hotel
You’ll find the Mount Errigal Hotel on the outskirts of the town a stone’s throw from endless things to see and do. The rooms are bright and adequately sized and there’s master suites available, if you fancy upgrading.
Food wise, you can opt for fine dining at the Heather Restaurant or there’s a more laid-back dining buzz at their Café Boulevard.
There’s also a 20-metre swimming pool, a kids pool and a health suite with a gym, sauna, steam room and plunge pool.
