I’m fond of a hotel/BnB/Airbnb/tent in a garden with a savage view.
The thing is, when it comes to hotels, in particular, you’ll often (not always!) end up paying out of the nose for a decent view.
Thankfully, there’s an absolute heap of unique Aibnbs scattered across Ireland that offer mighty views that won’t banjaxx your bank account.
In this guide, we’ll be taking you to a boathouse on an island in County Kerry with a view that’ll knock you sideways!
Welcome to the Boathouse
You’ll find the Boat House on the magnificent Valentia Island, near the little town of Portmagee in County Kerry.
Located smack-bang on the water, the big, chonker of a window in the sitting room overlooks the beach, the lighthouse, Beginish Island and beyond.
Imagine chilling here in the morning with a fat cup of coffee
The Boat House is a 250-year-old natural stone building. Inside, you’ll find an interior made up of traditional style white walls and natural timber. There’s also huge slabs of beautiful Valentia slate used in the kitchen.
Fancy a swim?
The Boat House boasts a swanky infrared sauna for those of you that visit during the winter and fancy taking a dip in the sea (it’s good for warming up post-swim, apparently).
How the host describes it
‘It is the most wonderful place to be in good weather and the most fascinating in bad weather when you can watch big waves crashing onto the beach, the rugged shore and the rocks by the lighthouse – all while being cuddled up on the couch with a hot cup of tea!
The interior is mainly natural timber and white walls. The floor downstairs and the working areas in the kitchen are covered with huge slabs of Valentia slate.
The bathroom is split into two areas – a shower bathroom and a second part with a bathtub and an infrared sauna (good for warming up during winter after a dip in the sea).’
How much a night here will set you back
So, to check the prices I’ve popped in 2 nights in February. Now, remember there’s no guarantee that life will be back to normal by then. Here’s what it’ll cost a group of 6:
- Total cost: €304
- Total per person: €50.66
- You can book a night at this place here
- If you use the link above we’ll make a tiny commission that goes towards the running of this website and you won’t pay anything extra (cheers if you do – it’s appreciated!)
