If you’ve ever wanted to stay in a castle in Ireland, now’s your chance.
A night in Wilton Castle in Wexford works out pretty damn reasonable if you visit with a group of friends.
And by ‘pretty damn reasonable’ I mean from €100.57 per night (more on this below). Here are some quick need to knows:
- The castle is called Wilton Castle
- It’s located in Wexford
- It sleeps 14
- It looks deadly
Welcome to Wexford’s Wilton Castle
I came across Wilton Castle while researching luxury Airbnbs for our guide to unique Airbnbs in Ireland (check it out if you haven’t already).
It looks incredible. And it’s perfectly equipped for a very alternative weekend away for a big group of friends at a very reasonable price (info at the end).
About the castle
Located on the banks of the Boro River in Wexford and surrounded by open parkland and quiet wooded countryside, the castle has been part of the local landscape since way back in 1247.
Over the years, the castle fell into disarray. That was until the current owner restored it to its former glory.
It can now be rented in its entirety on Airbnb or as a wedding venue via its official site.
Inside Wilton Castle
The interior of the castle looks incredible.
I could see myself happily spending an evening in front of that blazing fire, sippin’ away at a glass of whiskey.
The dining areas are also a generous size for those of you visiting with a big group. There’s also an outdoor patio area with a BBQ if you visit on a fine day.
The bedrooms
The rooms at Wilton Castle look pretty damn slick. Usually, when I hear that a place sleeps 14, I picture fold-out beds, but that’s not the case here.
14 people are catered for comfortably in king and queen beds. Here’s a breakdown of the sleeping arrangements:
- Room 1: 1 king bed
- Room 2: 1 king bed
- Room 3: 1 queen bed
- Room 4: 1 queen bed
- Room 5: 1 queen bed
- Room 6: 1 queen bed
- Room 7: 1 king bed
