If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle with some romantic glamping in Ireland’s most overlooked corner, head for the North Mayo coast to the Mullet Peninsula.

The peninsula is home to outstanding beaches, endless walking trails and heaps of spots for a dip. It’s also home to the brilliant Belmullet Glamping which offers mighty views of the Mayo coastline.

Each of the 4 pods here have a queen size bed, a kitchenette and large widows facing out towards the scenery. There’s also a fire pit where you can toast marshmallows while watching the sun-set.

Another of the more secluded spots to go glamping in Ireland for couples is Arranmore Glamping (it’s only a 15-minute ferry from the mainland, so it’s very accessible).

This remote and rugged island boasts several luxurious pods, each of which takes in ocean and mountain views both from inside the pod and out.

Some of the pods have private hot tubs where you can soak up the scenery and, when you’re not relaxing, there’s plenty to do on Arranmore close by.

Built in 2022, these bespoke cabins featured massive windows that let light flood in and that take full advantage of the views. There’s a luxury double bed, a kitchenette and a private bathroom.

One of the beauties of Oaklane is that, despite being in a very private location, it’s also a 20-minute walk from Kenmare Town, where you’ll find plenty of pubs and restaurants.

If you’re after complete seclusion, this luxury dome is set in a quiet corner of a 1 acre property in the heat of the Burren in County Clare.

The dome is compact, with a large double bed facing out onto hand-built stone walls that are framed against the beautiful Burren.

The view from Ceide Glamping in Mayo is out of this world. Each of the 6 pods here face out towards the towering sea stack known as ‘Dun Briste’ at Downpatrick Head.

The pods are, quite literally, feet from the coastline and you can kick-back on the patio with your morning coffee while listening to the waves crash.

The pods here are also some of the best-equipped that I’ve come across, with everything you’ll need for a weekend away (including Netflix!).

Set in a secluded field right beside a wooded area with a stream, this little hut is the perfect place to combine some quiet time with exploring.

Arguably one of Ireland’s best glampsites, Lough Mardal in Donegal takes the concept of ‘Scenic Stays’ to a whole other level thanks to their prime location in Ballintra.

This eco-glampsite is situated on 90 acres surrounded by hills, meadows and a large lake. Your room for the night is one of their 20-foot yurts, each of which come with super king beds, wood-burning stoves and glorious views.

Each has en suite toilets but the rest of the facilities are located in a communal eco building. The yurts are lit by lanterns and candle lights and each has an outdoor area where you can admire the views.

The truck runs off solar power and it is tucked away in a private garden. The pictures above will give you an idea of what to expect – this, for most, will be a very unique experience.

I’ve raved about Galway’s Fernwood in many guides to unique places to stay in Ireland. In a nutshell, this place offers seclusion, very quirky accommodation and an enviable location (it’s beside Clifden and near all of Connemara’s top attractions).

This glampsite has grown impressively over the years and it now offers several accommodation options. The first is the Treehouse Dome which sits 5 metres off the floor within the canopy.

The second is the Stilt House that sits on 47 stilts and that looks like something from an interior design mag. There’s also a plunge pool, a sauna and a rope bridge.

We’re back to Donegal and this time we’re off to the coastal town of Burtonport where you’ll find the Wheelhouse Pods (along with their popular cafe!).

There are 9 finely kitted-out pods here, each of which offers beautiful views out over Lackenagh Lake. 3 of the pods here have hot tubs and each has all the modern comforts you could hope for.

This is a small (there are 2 tents) glampsite a couple of minutes walk from the sea that offers sweeping views of Killala Bay right the way across to Downpatrick Head. 

There’s a BBQ, a little home pub if you have your own drinks and it’s a short drive from countless beaches (like Enniscrone) and plenty to see and do.

You’ll find a great little glamping set-up at Ballyvolane House in Cork. One of the beauties of this place is that you can enjoy the uniqueness of the accommodation along with the convenience of the house’s facilities.

The house has a restaurant and the extensive grounds have walking trails, tennis courts and hammocks to chill in.

You get breakfast included and it’s served up in the main house, which is handy. You can also enjoy dinner there, too (not included).

You’ll find Glenarm Castle along the Antrim Coast Road. I’ve been shouting away about this place for a while now, mainly due to the sheer volume of things there are to do within its grounds.

Don’t get me wrong, the pods are finely appointed and offer magnificent views, but combine them with the likes of the walking trails, gardens, museums and the castle itself, and you’ve a great weekend ahead.

There’s also the Pizza Pavilion if you fancy a bite-to-eat, and each pod has a private bathroom, kitchenette and plenty of green space to enjoy.
